Mom's Best Friend Gives Nannies a Career Path

Apprentice Program will Provide Coaching for Developing Childcare Providers

Austin, Texas –Mom’s Best Friend, Austin’s largest and most established nanny agency, announced that they have launched a nanny apprentice program. This program will pair junior nannies with skilled Mom’s Best Friend nanny "coaches" to provide supervised training through on-the-job experience. With the introduction of this program, entry-level caregivers will have an opportunity to develop and prepare for their professional career as a nanny.

The program will be open to caregivers that are at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent, and at least two verifiable childcare references. The training program is at no cost to the nannies, and the program will involve each caregiver volunteering at least forty hours as an apprentice. Throughout the program, the coach nannies will use their own place of employment as the training ground for the apprentice nannies, and will cover the objectives outlined in the curriculum provided by Mom’s Best Friend. The apprentices will be eligible to work as a temporary nanny (Mom’s Best Friend’s sitter service) immediately following their completion of the program, but are not under any obligation to do so. After three months as a paid temporary nanny, apprenticed nannies are eligible for long-term nanny placement through the agency.

"Mom’s Best Friend sees a variety of candidates who have tremendous potential but do not quite meet our screening criteria, and are therefore not able to be placed through our agency," said Kathy Dupuy, owner and founder of Mom’s Best Friend. "We see the apprentice program as an opportunity to bring additional trained nannies and sitters to Austin families."

Mom’s Best Friend has a reputation in Austin as a provider of the most experienced, professional nannies and sitters. The apprentice program would serve as an outreach to the community to help nannies further their childcare education, through job shadowing, in order to train the next generation of in-home childcare providers. This program supports Mom's Best Friend's philanthropic company values, including their recently launched charity program whereby upon every client membership or renewal, $25 is donated to a local charity.
